Wear Your Character Series: Hope

Meet Hope, a determined soccer player and this month’s Wear Your Character Series feature. She’s been playing soccer as long as she can remember, and loves every second of it—especially playing in the rain! Hope stands out on her club soccer team. According to Simone, her coach, Hope reaches her goals through a combination of hard work and talent.

Name: Hope

Age: Almost 9

What are your favorite hobbies, activities, and/or sports?

Fly fishing, art, soccer, figure skating, surfing, building Legos, doing cartwheels, and reading.

Who is your hero?

My siblings and Alex Morgan.

If you could have any superpower, what would you pick and why?

My super power would be super speed so that I can get places fast.

What do you love about playing soccer?

Soccer makes me happy because I am doing what I love. I love the scrimmages and games we play during practice. I love being with my teammates and my friends. I love being outside. I love scoring goals. I love learning new things about the game. I love playing in the rain. I really love soccer.

What are your goals?

To be kind to people; to learn something new every day; and, to have good sportsmanship.

What advice do you have for other kids who want to get better at something they love to do?

My advice would be to keep working hard and practice. Even if you don’t think you can do something, you can - you may just need some more practice.

What motivates you?

The thing that motivates me is that I am learning new things in life and soccer and this makes me happy.
