This week’s “Wear Your Character” profile is the kind Katalina Kosciuk. Creative to the core, Kat loves art and crafting. Since the quarantine, Kat has been making care packages for senior citizens who may be in need of some cheering up. Kat’s crates for seniors include warm socks, playing cards, crossword puzzles, art, lotion, stationery, pens, and self-addressed and stamped envelopes to be Kat’s pen pal.
Kat is helping to raise money for Kenneth Young Center senior services which provides meals on wheels.
Kat also loves to horseback ride and has a passion for the care and treatment of animals. Kat truly wears her character in our Kind t-shirt. Let’s get to know Kat a little better...
Name: Katalina Kosciuk Age: 9
Favorite hobbies, activities, and/or sports: Arts, crafts, and horseback riding.
Who’s your hero?
Jane Goodall, because of her kindness to animals.
If you could have any superpower, what would you pick?
What inspired you to do what you do?
I started making these boxes for friends during social distancing. It made them so happy. Then my mom told me how older adults are feeling extra alone right now because they have to stay home, they can't have visitors and many don't have internet access. I knew it would make them so happy to know someone was thinking of them.
What do you hope other kids can learn from your experience?
That we can help even though we are young. And that helping others is really fun.
What advice do you have for other kids looking to get involved in the community or in charity?
Think about who might need help and how they feel. Help them by using what you are talented at.
Our Makoshey Power Word t-shirts spotlight a single, powerful word expressing why you are awesome. What words would you feel proud to wear?
I would feel proud to wear the words kind and creative.
At Makoshey, we designed these ideal blend, single word t-shirts for girls like Stella and you so you can be yourself and inspire others. The Power Word Collection also features “Independent”, “Gritty”, “Kind” and “Sporty”, with more coming soon. We thought it would be fun to tell the stories of awesome girls who inspire us to be the best possible version of ourselves. These girls wear their character out loud and deserve celebrating!
